Schmincke AKADEMIE Acryl Color is a series comprising 52 standard colors and 8 effect colors, which together offer a balanced and versatile color spectrum. Two-thirds of the colors are highly opaque, while the remaining third has a glazing effect. The series is highly brilliant, formulated without animal-derived ingredients, and is cadmium- and cobalt-free.

Like all Schmincke acrylic paints, the AKADEMIE series can be mixed and combined with other Schmincke products—such as PRIMAcryl Professional, College Acrylic, and AERO COLOR—as well as all types of acrylic media. The paints are suitable for many surfaces, including canvas, painting panels, acrylic paper, wood, and other clean, degreased surfaces.

About Schmincke

Schmincke was founded in 1881 by the paint chemists Josef Horadam and Hermann Schmincke in Germany. The company’s first product was the oil paint “Mussini,” developed based on traditional resin-oil paint recipes from the Italian artist Cesare Mussini. In 1892, Josef Horadam developed a new type of liquid-cast watercolor, which he named after himself—the cornerstone of what is now the Horadam Aquarell series.
